Site Security Consulting
Creating Safer Places By Design - William H. Gordon Associates, Inc. (WHGA)'s Site Security Consulting Group's mission is to address the safety and security needs of public and private facilities while maintaining the sense of openness and accessibility that is a hallmark of our American way of life. A talented multi-disciplinary staff of security / law enforcement professionals, CPTED specialists, engineers and landscape architects have been assembled to provide innovative site security solutions utilizing today's "best practices”.
WHGA's security services are based on the well-founded principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). The need for security in our environment should not define who we are as a society. WHGA promotes proactive thinking and planning to ensure that safety and security is designed into the fabric of the environment without significantly altering our daily routine. The focus is on the positive use of space and natural elements to develop a desirable space for the intended users, while creating difficult and problematic conditions for those who would wish to harm us. A key aspect of security is the management of fear – real or perceived. We must recognize that perceived fear becomes reality to those we seek to protect.
WHGA applies a holistic approach to security planning, by utilizing CPTED principles to integrate traditional physical security measures and community policing philosophies with operational objectives and environmental considerations. WHGA believes that:
“It takes courage, conviction, and a visionary plan to say that in our time buildings are not fortresses. An integrated approach results in planning from a base of POWER not one of FEAR.”
Security Services
WHGA offers customized security consulting services to address our clients needs ranging from security planning to implementation. WHGA's goal is to seamlessly integrate security provisions into a facility through timely analysis and programming services.
Site and Security Programming
Site and security programming is a pre-design analysis to capitalize on opportunities, anticipate conflicts, and suggest mitigation options. WHGA accomplishes programming through three distinct service offerings:
CPTED Services
The principles of CPTED: natural access control, natural surveillance, and territoriality, integrated with the requirements for physical security, offer opportunities to enhance a facility's approach to address conventional crime, as well as terrorist threats. WHGA's unique approach ensures that traditional CPTED practices are enhanced through application of Physical Security, Landscape Architecture, and Civil Engineering expertise. Service offerings include:
Site Security Engineering
WHGA will prepare the necessary construction documents to ensure that the site security program is properly implemented. Our multi-disciplined staff provides civil engineering and landscape architectural expertise to the development of detailed design documents and specifications for the physical security and CPTED measures, including associated site improvements / landscaping.
