State & Local Experience

VDOT Administration Building

Gordon provided professional engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying services during concept development and final design at Fairfax County’s West Ox Public Facilities Campus located on approximately 22.7 acres in Fairfax County, Virginia.  The site includes a 166,190 SF building with associated parking, landscaping, and infrastructure design.  This is a BCOM project and is currently being managed by Fairfax County. This project is pending LEED Silver certification.

 

Loudoun Water Basic Order Agreement (BOA)

Gordon has executed multiple task orders to help advance Loudoun Water’s capital improvements under the Basic Order Agreement by Loudoun County Sanitation Authority (d.b.a. Loudoun Water).  Services and projects included, preparation of easements for extension of watermains, 24” waterline extensions under the Red Dot Program, and an extension of 6,000 LF of water use main.  Other task orders include utility design services, bidding assistance, construction administration, permitting, survey services, easement preparation and coordination, and the coordination of utility locating and geotechnical engineering services.

 

State Corporation Commission (SCC) Building

Gordon performed security consulting services for the State Corporation Commission (SCC), specifically, the Tyler Building located at 1300 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia.  Gordon conducted an extensive review of the risks and vulnerabilities that the SCC faces, including traditional risk factors as well as asymmetric threats. This analysis included a review of security systems, security programs, access control, CPTED opportunities, and overall security programming.  The analysis led to a series of priority tiered recommendations that the SCC could implement in order to further enhance their security posture and programs.

 

McLean Police Headquarters and Government Center

Gordon provided preparation of civil site plans and landscape architecture for the expansion of an existing police station and government center.  In addition, Gordon added value to the design team through its security consulting and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) specialists, who worked closely with the County and the rest of the design team to ensure security was implemented into the design from the beginning phases of design.

 

City of Ranson Comprehensive Services

Gordon collaborated with the City of Ranson, West Virginia to provide comprehensive consulting services to this growing area. Services provided by Gordon under this contract included planning, landscape architecture, and civil engineering services for a variety of projects, including streetscape master planning, parks design and master planning, pedestrian route assessment, grant writing assistance, transportation planning, construction documents, and preparation and updating of the City’s zoning maps and development districts.

 

VDOT Transportation Design Improvements

As a subconsultant on this IDIQ contract, Gordon performed surveying and mapping services for a section of Prince William Parkway to detect depressions and undulations on the road surface to assist in an overall roadway improvement plan.  Mapping for Waxpool Road in Fairfax County was also provided by Gordon under this contract. All services were provided on time and within budget on an on-call basis.  In addition, Gordon was able to provide the use of 3D Laser Scanning to assist with gathering data, while not interrupting traffic flows.

 

Prince William County Survey IDIQ

Gordon provided surveying and engineering services under an open-end contract with Prince William County to perform multiple surveying services including: topographic surveys, easement plats, mapping and platting, and stakeout surveys.  Task orders issued under this contract included a variety of project types, including roadways, storm drainage, utility easements, and sidewalk improvements.

 

Charles Town Comprehensive Plan

Gordon assisted in the development and review of the City of Charles Town, West Virginia Comprehensive Plan.   Gordon assisted in creating a plan for physical development, including land use that was adopted by the City, and setting forth guidelines, goals and objectives for all activities that affect growth and development in Charles Town. Gordon aided the planning commission by assisting with the development and review of designs and recommendations, which were used to promote the preservation and enhancement of the physical, economic and social quality of life in Charles Town.  In addition, Gordon guided the planning commission in the performance of its duties to help achieve sound planning that promoted the prosperous general welfare of the community, as well as efficiency and economy in the development process.

 

Town of Purcellville Engineering and Drainage Studies

Gordon provided survey, GIS, and water resource engineering services to support the drainage study set forth by the Town of Purcellville.  Services were performed to meet the Town’s goals of a sustainable and environmentally sensitive approach to identify and remediate drainage issues within multiple study areas.  Gordon also provided the design of pipelines and extensions, as well as community outreach related to these projects and studies.

 

Weihle Avenue Metro Parking Facility

Gordon provided civil engineering services to prepare a set of performance criteria for a 2,300 car underground parking garage, a 12 bus bay transit center, and 46 car “Kiss and Ride” parking spaces. In addition, Gordon security consultants performed security design services and worked closely with both the architect and County officials to ensure an open, yet secure facility for public use.

 

Washington Place

Gordon provided full engineering, land planning, and surveying services for the annexation of the subject property into the City of Charles Town, West Virginia. The property is located on approximately 245 acres with the conceptual design consisting of 650,000 square feet of commercial and approximately 800 residential units. In addition, a detailed sanitary sewer study was prepared by Gordon for Washington Place, which evaluated several different available routes and methods for providing sewer service to the property.
